🍂 Fall in Newport, RI 2026: Festivals, Foliage & Things to Do Near Pelham Court Hotel

Crisp air, golden light, and a calendar full of festivals. Here’s our local guide to fall 2026 in Newport, RI, from the Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival to apple picking, Halloween at The Breakers, and Newport Restaurant Week.

Why Fall Is Newport's Best-Kept Secret

Once the summer crowds head home, Newport slows down and shows off. The air turns crisp, the light over the harbor turns golden, dinner reservations get easier, and the calendar fills with festivals, harvest weekends, and mansion events. Here's our guide to fall 2026 in Newport, all within easy reach of our suites in the heart of downtown.

🚗 Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week (October 1–4)

Fall kicks off with one of Newport's most glamorous weekends. Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week brings rare and exclusive cars, fine-dining pop-ups, and mansion galas to venues all over town. Even if you're not a car person, it's a fun few days to be in Newport.

😂 Rogue Island Comedy Festival (October 8–11)

Four days of stand-up at venues around Newport and Middletown. Catch a show after dinner downtown and you're a short walk from bed.

🎨 Broadway Street Fair (October 10)

Broadway closes to cars from Equality Park to Washington Square for a day of local artists, live music, and food vendors. It's one of the best ways to see Newport's neighborhood side.

🦞 Bowen's Wharf Seafood Festival (October 17–18)

The 35th annual Seafood Festival takes over Bowen's Wharf from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days, rain or shine under the festival tents. Admission is free; food and drinks are sold by the vendors. Expect fresh local seafood, chowder, and live music right on the water, just a short walk from Pelham Court.

🎎 Japan-America Friendship Festival (October 17)

The same Saturday, Touro Park hosts a celebration of Japanese culture with vendor booths and music. Touro Park is only a few minutes' walk from our front door, so it's easy to pair with the Seafood Festival.

🎃 Halloween at the Newport Mansions

The Preservation Society's Trick or Treat at The Breakers runs Friday and Saturday, October 23–24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with a sensory-friendly session on Friday from 5:30 to 6 p.m. For grown-ups, lantern-lit ghost tours wind through Newport's oldest streets on fall evenings. Check the Newport Mansions events page for tickets.

🍎 Apple Picking, Pumpkins & Hayrides

A quick drive from downtown, Sweet Berry Farm in Middletown offers pick-your-own apples and pumpkins, and Escobar's Highland Farm in Portsmouth has weekend hayrides and an 8-acre corn maze (cash only). Bring your haul back to your suite's full kitchen for a homemade apple crisp.

🌊 Fall Walks on the Cliff Walk & Ocean Drive

Autumn is the best time of year for the Cliff Walk. The paths are quieter, the ocean is dramatic, and the mansions glow in the late-afternoon sun. For a scenic drive, loop along Ocean Drive at sunset, then head back downtown for dinner.

🍽️ Newport Restaurant Week (November 6–15)

Stretch your trip into November and take advantage of Newport Restaurant Week, when local restaurants offer special prix-fixe menus. It's a delicious way to explore the city's dining scene without the summer wait.

🐾 Bring Your Dog

Fall is perfect weather for long walks with your four-legged travel companion. Pelham Court is a dog-friendly hotel, so the whole family can come along. See our pet policy.
