🚗 Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week (October 1–4)
Fall kicks off with one of Newport's most glamorous weekends. Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week brings rare and exclusive cars, fine-dining pop-ups, and mansion galas to venues all over town. Even if you're not a car person, it's a fun few days to be in Newport.
😂 Rogue Island Comedy Festival (October 8–11)
Four days of stand-up at venues around Newport and Middletown. Catch a show after dinner downtown and you're a short walk from bed.
🎨 Broadway Street Fair (October 10)
Broadway closes to cars from Equality Park to Washington Square for a day of local artists, live music, and food vendors. It's one of the best ways to see Newport's neighborhood side.
🦞 Bowen's Wharf Seafood Festival (October 17–18)
The 35th annual Seafood Festival takes over Bowen's Wharf from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days, rain or shine under the festival tents. Admission is free; food and drinks are sold by the vendors. Expect fresh local seafood, chowder, and live music right on the water, just a short walk from Pelham Court.
🎎 Japan-America Friendship Festival (October 17)
The same Saturday, Touro Park hosts a celebration of Japanese culture with vendor booths and music. Touro Park is only a few minutes' walk from our front door, so it's easy to pair with the Seafood Festival.
🎃 Halloween at the Newport Mansions
The Preservation Society's Trick or Treat at The Breakers runs Friday and Saturday, October 23–24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with a sensory-friendly session on Friday from 5:30 to 6 p.m. For grown-ups, lantern-lit ghost tours wind through Newport's oldest streets on fall evenings. 🍎 Apple Picking, Pumpkins & Hayrides
A quick drive from downtown, Sweet Berry Farm in Middletown offers pick-your-own apples and pumpkins, and Escobar's Highland Farm in Portsmouth has weekend hayrides and an 8-acre corn maze (cash only). Bring your haul back to your suite's full kitchen for a homemade apple crisp.
🌊 Fall Walks on the Cliff Walk & Ocean Drive
Autumn is the best time of year for the Cliff Walk. The paths are quieter, the ocean is dramatic, and the mansions glow in the late-afternoon sun. For a scenic drive, loop along Ocean Drive at sunset, then head back downtown for dinner.
